18 Fijians awarded Fiji honours system

Eighteen Fijians have today been acknowledged for their contribution towards building a better Fiji in the Fiji Honours System.

President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau officiated at the Order of Fiji this morning under the investiture ceremony.

One of the recipients is former cabinet minister and diplomat, Kaliopate Tavola.

‘’I’m now retired, and I’ve done public service for a long time i suppose that the recognition that I’m getting now after 11 years as a civil servant, 14 years as a diplomat, 7 years altogether as a cabinet minister, 5 years as a member of parliament and 1 year as a senator. So I’ve done quite a bit I’m just glad that the people out there do recognise the contributions I’ve given towards the country and I’m certainly very grateful’’.

Other recipients are Minister for Defence, Timoci Natuva, hotelier Dixon Seeto, Commissioner of Oath, Saleshni Chand, former minister Viliame Naupoto and five officers from the military including Commander Brigadier General Mosese Tikoitoga.
