18 families without homes in Naivaka

Severe damage to houses caused by Tropical Cyclone Evan, sees 18 families in Naivaka village in Bua, now without a home.

Speaking from Bua, village headman, Ilivasi Walu told FBC News that they have never experienced such damage from any cyclone in the past.

He says part from these families losing their homes, food supply is also a worry after most root crops were destroyed.

The Naivaka villagers are now wondering how they will manage over the next few days and are praying that help will come their way as soon as possible.

In Malolo more than 10 houses were destroyed by Cyclone Evan.

Tikina representative, Isikeli Ratu says they are comparing the damage to caused this week to what was experienced during hurricane Bebe in 1972.
