Some 150 people have taken shelter at the Suva Sangam Community hall after their houses were severely damaged by strong winds.

Rakesh Kumar told FBC news sixty to seventy people are alone from Jittu Estate and the rest are from Nadawa, Nanuku and Howell Road.

Kumar says the residents of Jittu Estate have lost almost ten houses and they have some elderly people among them.

They have been at the hall from 5pm this afternoon.
