Twelve new cases of dengue fever have emerged from the North bringing the number to almost 100

National Advisor for Communicable Diseases Dr Mike Kama says these cases were recorded in Macuata last week.

He says although these cases were mild and patients have been treated and sent home, it still remains a concern for the Health Ministry.

“All these cases they have been treated and sent home. They are mild cases- no admission and no deaths so far. But still the numbers are too high at this point and time for us to sit back and not do anything about it but we are quite happy with the team in the Northern division.”

People have been asked to destroy mosquito breeding places and see a doctor if the symptoms like body pains, rashes and red eyes occur.

The Ministry is keeping a close watch on the situation.
