$100m drug bust

August 8, 2015 5:06 am

A joint operation between the Fiji Police Force, New Zealand Customs, Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority and the Australian Federal Police has resulted in the seizure of drugs worth more than 100 million Fijian dollars in Suva.

A Fijian national is in police custody and is expected to appear in court soon after parcels containing amphetamine weighing close to 80kg were found inside a shipping container.

Chief of Investigation and Intelligence ACP Henry Brown says the Fiji Police Force continues to value the partnership it has developed over the years with its local and foreign law enforcement agencies.

Brown says with such partnership the Fiji Police is confident of dealing with transnational crime issues and ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.
