10 schools damaged by TC Winston re-opened

Ten primary schools in Ra were officially re-opened today following the rehabilitation after it was badly damaged by TC Winston in 2016.

The schools were reconstructed with the support from the Australian Government in partnership with the Government’s Adopt-a-School scheme.

Acting Prime Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum acknowledged the Australian Government for their support in rebuilding these schools.

Australia’s High Commissioner to Fiji, John Feakes says this is an excellent example of a community working together to recover from a tragedy.

The rehabilitated schools are Madhuvani Sangam School, Bureiwai District School, Bucalevu Primary School, Namuaniwaqa Village School, Liwativale Primary School, Nasau District School, Tokaimalo District School, Bayly Memorial School, Navunibitu Catholic Primary School and Naroko Primary School.
