10 queen contestants vie for crown at Friendly North Festival

Preventing pollution will be the key theme for this year’s 2019 Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North.

Launched last night, the Festival will see 10 Queen Contestants vying for the top crown as well as using the platform to be ambassadors for the environment.

Miss Northern Civil Service, 22-year-old School Teacher Alitia Kautoga will be advocating against pollution of the ocean.

“The theme for this year’s Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North is Prevent Pollution, Save our North. Throughout the week I will be advocating on a plastic-free North for clean oceans.”

Miss Labasa Hospital 22-year-old Intern Staff Nurse Shweta Chand will be advocating against waste pollution in Labasa Town

“I would like to use this platform to convey my message on the waste-wise town, together we can improve the disposal of solid waste and prevents communicable diseases.”

There are also four King contestants this year.

The Festival will be held at Subrail Park from the 17th to the 24th of August.
