Local business women now have a platform to be recognized following the launch of the 2019 Women in Business Awards in Suva last night.

WIB President, Dr. Nur Bano Ali says Women in Business continue to promote women in leadership and executive positions.

Dr. Ali says they also want to encourage more women to expand their businesses.

“The cost is around $450,000 and that is in cash and kind. You can divide that by 50 percent each. A lot of people get involved and a lot of people support and it is a massive event.”

She says with the sponsorship of eighty thousand dollars from Westpac – they will now be able to further encourage women to start they own business.

“The feedback we get is that as soon as they get their award they get so much visibility as everybody wants to know them. Their business grows as well so it’s that recognition that gives you more in your cup.”

The Westpac Chief Executive while handing over the sponsorship cheque says Fiji has many women with amazing skills, talents, and potential.

The theme for this year’s WIB awards is “Think equal, Be Bold
