Vodafone Fiji will be commissioning 40 new 4G+ base stations in Vanualevu as part of the capital investment they’re doing with their network infrastructure.
Vodafone Fiji’s Regional Chief Executive Pradeep Lal says this is being done to increase data coverage in remote areas including islands in the Northern Division.
Lal says High-Speed internet services will also be available in islands like Taveuni and Rabi by the end of June.
“Once we have that transmission up and running then we will be able to branch it out to places like Lagalaga, Labasa. This will also be branched out to Tabia and Wailevu and also to the Dreketi corridor.”
Lal adds major expansion on 4G+ network coverage is currently underway in Seaqaqa to Nabouwalu corridor and people in areas like Nabouwalu and greater Bua and Nasawaqa areas will have access to 4G+ internet services.
Lal says $60 million is set aside for providing high-speed internet services in the rural and remote areas including islands.
