Tourism Fiji is closely following the Ministry of Health’s measles advisory.

Chief Executive Mathew Stoeckel says they have also been adhering to the advice by the health authorities in regards to the measles outbreak in certain parts of the country.

Stoeckel adds they can’t confirm now whether the measles outbreak has had any effect on tourism arrivals for the past few months.

“The latest statistics available at the Fiji Bureau of Stats and that’s for October and it’s very difficult to tell in any of our statistics what causes either an increase or decrease so some further analysis needs to be undertaken whether the measles was having an impact on Fiji.”

He says any question by visitors regarding the outbreak are referred to the Health Ministry.

Stoeckel adds they also had to postpone their industry day in Suva due to the advisory from the MOH.
