High speed internet to fast track Immigration services

The Department of Immigration under the Office of the Prime Minister signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Telecom Fiji yesterday Source TFL.

The Department of Immigration under the Office of the Prime Minister signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Telecom Fiji yesterday.

The MOU was signed for a better, more secure and high speed dedicated internet access.

The agreement will allow all immigration offices in the country to be connected to the main internet server at the Department of Immigration headquarters in Suva and paves the way for improved and faster data and knowledge-sharing within the Department.

Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister, Yogesh Karan signed the MOA with Telecom CEO, Charles Goundar.

Karan said the internet, among other communication tools, is crucial in the work of the Department.

“This is another initiative aimed at further boosting our daily operations. We will be working very closely with Telecom as they will be our dedicated internet provider.”

“Providing efficient and effective immigration services are key areas for the Department and with adequate internet connectivity, service delivery is expected to be further enhanced.”

“Digital connectivity through high-speed internet is expected and we acknowledge Telecom for teaming up with the Department.”

The Telecom Chief Executive also welcomed the partnership.

“Telecom’s high-speed Connectivity solutions will ensure that the Department of Immigration can engage in much faster and improved data and knowledge-sharing amongst its offices Fiji wide.”
