The mindset change from an authority to a service-focused organization is beginning to pay off.

Fiji Revenue and Customs Service CEO Visvanath Das says it’s been four years since they restructured, undergoing a name change for the institution as well a mindset change in how they should operate.

“It’s about you know working together because as you know as I express all the time in Forums is that of course the real baking of the cake is done by the businessman, the economy, you know I just get a bite of it, you know 20 percent corporate taxes. So I need to look after the people so that they grow their business.”

Das says with the new New Tax Information System to be implemented next year, stakeholders can expect even better service that is transparent, effective and efficient.

Under the NTIS, taxpayers will be able to lodge all their tax affairs online.

Currently, the NTIS is going through live testing with some stakeholders and is scheduled to be ready in the first quarter of 2020.
