Sugarcane Growers Consultation to be held in the North

A Sugarcane Grower’s Consultation will be held in the Northern division from next Tuesday.

This is an effort which will be carried out by the Ministry of Sugar Industry together with the Fiji Sugar Corporation, Sugar Cane Growers Council, Sugar Research Institute of Fiji, Sugar Cane Growers Fund, South Pacific Fertilizers Ltd, and Sugar Industry Tribunal.

The consultation aims to seek ideas and suggestions from sugarcane growers on development of the National Sugar Industry Policy and Strategies.

The four day event will also focus on any other concerns that growers may have.

Some topics of discussions will be include improvement on sugarcane productions and yield, infrastructure development, milling, harvesting, and transportation.

It was also include, innovation through research and development, marketing and generating revenues.

Institutional structure, legislation review and governance, addressing cross cutting issues capacity development, gender and environmental problems will also be discussed.
