SPTO appoints new Chair

South Pacific Tourism Organisation has appointed new chair, David Vaeafe.

Vaeafe is also the Executive Director of the American Samoa Visitors Bureau with more than 20 years of experience in the national and regional tourism industry.

Commenting on some of the outcomes of the Board meeting, Vaeafe says the board approved the SPTO Membership Prospectus and new Strategic Plan for 2020-2024 and is committed to elevating tourism to the Ministerial and leaders level through stronger advocacy.

SPTO also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pacific Aviation Safety Office.

The agreement covers information sharing, coordination and cooperation, and strengthens the links between the tourism and aviation sector that are closely interlinked and vital for economic growth throughout the Pacific.

The next SPTO Board and annual Council of Ministers meetings will be held in Niue from September 30th to 5th of October.
