More than three hundred vehicles are imported annually from overseas into the country by Shreedhar Motors Limited.

Manager Sales and Marketing, Jagdish Chand says they spend millions of dollars on these vehicles in order to meet the demands from its local customers.

He says there are huge taxes on luxury vehicles especially with SUV’s and this makes it difficult for many car businesses to own that part of the market.

“ Annually we like invest tens of millions which could be twenty million plus – depending on the demand but not only the demand but also the new innovation that comes into the product. We are like forced from the forces outside which are the customers and we need to cater for that. Today’s consumers are very educated and very informed so we need to cater to that market as well.”

Chand was speaking at the launch of the first new Ford Ranger Raptor in Suva last night which has already been purchased.

The vehicle which cost $170,000 is in big demand that even the next batch which will arrive next month has already been sold out.

Raptor is the best all-around pick up in the business and it’s wrapped in a class-leading design that draws on Ford’s 35-year truck heritage.
