The price of raw cow milk has increased by 13 cents per litre.

Chief executive of Fiji Cooperative Dairy Company Limited Kushmendra Prasad says this was effective from 3rd February.

Prasad says the price of raw milk for the past two years has been 83 cents excluding VAT which has now increased to 97 cents.

He says the VAT inclusive price will now be $1.06.

“This increase will help the farmers to cater for the expenses and their cost of production which they were facing difficulties at their farm level. The farmers will be able to have a better price now which will also help them benefit from the loss of cattle due to Tuberculosis.”

Prasad says this will benefit more than 250 farmers to help upgrade their farm facilities and provide growth for the dairy industry.
