Vodafone Fiji says they will absorb the 10 cents per GB data levy and consumers will not have to pay anything extra for data usage.

Vodafone Fiji says prior to the data levy, telecommunication companies had been paying a levy on voice calls and this has now been repealed by the government which means telecommunication companies will no longer be required to pay the levy on voice calls going forward.

This, in turn, has been replaced by the data levy.

Vodafone Fiji says the removal of the voice levy and the reduction in internet wholesale bandwidth cost has helped Vodafone to absorb the data levy and not pass these costs onto its consumers.

Telecom Fiji Chief Executive, Charles Goundar says with the removal of the voice levy and the reduction in landing costs at FINTEL, Telecom is able to pay the 10 cents levy without pushing it onto the customers.
