The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission is urging residential landlords to register their properties.

Chief Executive, Joel Abraham says a low number of registered landlords is an issue and it is also affecting them to phase out the rent freeze currently in place.

He adds the Commission is also developing an e-registration system to encourage more landlords to register.

“At this point in time it is still on our website people can come and register or fill the registration and sent it through but unfortunately people are not doing that. We are hoping with the new automated system where people don’t have to fill the form so maybe it will help.”

The Commission has engaged the services of an Australian based IT to develop a much easier system for landlords.
