Provisional data shows an increase of 1.9 percent in visitor arrivals for last month, compared to a year earlier.

A total of 63, 807 visitors came to Fiji in January.

Increases were recorded in from New Zealand, Japan, China, Canada, USA and the rest of Asia.

There were decreases in arrivals from Australia, Pacific Islands, UK and Continental Europe.

Visitors arriving for holiday purposes accounted for 73.8 percent of total arrivals.

Majority of the visitors to Fiji last month were in the age range of 25-63.
