The Police Force has increased their patrolling in the capital city which has been welcomed by the Suva Retailers Association.

President Vinay Kumar says this is beneficial for businesses as it enables consumers to shop around in a safe environment.

Kumar says this is one factor which may boost their sales as they have had a low pickup this festive season.

“We have deregulatory shopping hours now days which was passed in 2016 by the Government Shop Regulations so businesses can operate 24 hours as they do not need a permit.”

The Association has also suggested extended shopping hours for this weekend in Suva CBD to facilitate consumers.

He says this has been done especially for those who are working and also for the last minute Christmas shopping.
