“We are currently on the process of having the online website and the online app that we are currently designing and we are hoping that this will be up and running in the next three to six months.”

Meghji says they import most of their goods from overseas in order to meet the demands of its consumers.

While officiating at the opening, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the supermarket will provide competition to nearby supermarkets and also give a wide range of goods and services for customers to choose from.

“As the economy grows, people will have more money in their pockets, people will be a lot more demanding by requiring more services so online shopping is something we are trying in Fiji. I still think that for the time being in any case, people will want to do more face to face interactions and transaction but there is a growing market for online shopping too.”

Sayed-Khaiyum says people are buying more goods resulting in the increasing demands in the shopping industry.

He adds that more have embarked into the business industry due to the increasing demand for varieties of supermarket goods from customers

The new branch costs $4million and is the second P.Meghji supermarket in the country with the third to be opened in Lautoka in July.
