In a recent safety audit by the International Civil Aviation Authority, Fiji improved on its effective implementation.

With the audit carried out by ICAO in August, Fiji’s compliance rate increased to 78 percent.

CAAF’s Air Safety Controller Captain George Tudreu says given Fiji’s industry size and population, it’s a commendable feat to rate so highly in comparison to other countries in the Asia Pacific region.

“In that audit, its outcome currently undergoing the vetting process, it’ll be formalized very shortly. We have come out 11th out of 48 countries. “

In the previous audit of 2006, Fiji’s compliance was at 63 percent.

The Asia Pacific region includes Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India, and Japan among others.
