Fiji prepares to chair World Bank and IMF meetings

Fiji is preparing to Chair the World Bank and IMF meetings in Washington DC this week.

Attorney General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum will chair the meetings as well as that of the Small States Forum 2019.

The meetings, Sayed-Khaiyum says will provide a platform for leaders to discuss the emerging economies and risks of trade wars on small island countries.

“The world bank IMF chair position is a rotational position, so we are simultaneously chair of the small states forum which requires us to provide a lot of food for thought in respect to how to meet the challenges of the small states. There’s over small fifty small states.

The small states the AG says are at the frontlines of climate change, continuing to lose the most from the global crises.
