With the decrease in fuel prices and LPG products effective today, the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission is urging traders to ensure they pass on the new prices.

FCCC’s CEO Joel Abraham says they have noticed in the past that some Traders have held back on implementing the new slashed prices.

Abraham says this will not be tolerated and the authority last night dispatched their officers to monitor traders with the new fuel prices effective from midnight.

The retail fuel price decreases are across the board covering Motor Spirit, Premix, Kerosene and Diesel as well as LPG products.

“It’ll be a nationwide exercise, not just in Suva but in the Western and Northern division as well. We’ll ensure we reach areas, our officers will be deployed in teams of two or three in various areas and we make sure we get full coverage.”

The lower fuel prices have been attributed to the crude oil production by the three largest producers, the United States, Russia and Saudi Arabia being at near record levels that has led to the reduced prices.

The FCCC will next review the fuel and LPG prices in April.
