Fast food advertisements will be a major challenge for the new TV series, The Pacific Island Food Revolution.

Executive Director, Robert Oliver says the entire project is a contradiction to the advertising of fast and processed foods.

Oliver says unhealthy food options have massive food marketing power.

“We thought to ourselves, we have a great story to tell and it’s your Pacific story and so that people will feel the truth. We are talking about wellbeing, not about commodity, we are talking about being well and honoring your culture we are not talking about selling something. It’s a very different approach, we are not marketing, we are storytelling so we are not strategizing a contradiction or a response to advertising, and we just have a better story to tell.”

Oliver says they will not allow lower value food sellers to advertise during the show breaks in an effort to counter this challenge.

Meanwhile, the series will air in 20 TV stations around the Pacific from tomorrow.
