Employment ministry approves new employment agency

COMPANY RESPONSIBLE FOR EXPLORING WORK FOR FIJIANS OVERSEAS

The Employment Ministry has approved Ripon Kumar Barral of South Pacific Overseas Services Pty Limited to operate an Employment Agency business for one year.

The company will be responsible for exploring work for Fijian workers overseas with potential employers who are interested in hiring Fijian workers.

This approval came into effect from December 13th this year.

According to the Ministry, the new employment agency went through a rigid screening and authorization application process set out in the Employment Relations (Employment Agencies) Regulations (2008).

Meanwhile, any person who operates an employment agency without authorization will be charged and will be liable for a conviction of a fine of not less than $4000 and not more than $10,000 or a term of imprisonment not exceeding 1 year or both.
