Digicel Chief Executive Mike Greig
Digicel customers won’t have to pay the 10 cent levy on data usage.
Chief Executive Mike Greig has confirmed the company will absorb the new levy which applies for every gigabyte of data used.
Greig says the company is mindful of the government’s intention and will back the necessary investment.
‘We acknowledge the need for telecommunications services to be developed across Fiji at reasonable prices so as to not impact growth and development of industry and individuals. We look forward to growth in the ICT space, and internet gateway reduced costs mentioned in parliament materializing.’
The government passed a law on Thursday imposing a 10 cent levy on every gigabyte of data used by Fijians.
Vodafone and Telecom Fiji have similarly decided to foot the cost.
