Data usage on mobile phones and other smart devices is at an unprecedented level.

Vodafone Fiji – the market leader in mobile telecommunications has seen a 400% increase in data usage across the country.

Chief Commercial Officer, Rajnesh Prasad told FBC News, this growth will actually heighten as demand grows.

“What that means is there is an exponential growth in terms of customer demand for mobile data and we see that number increasing four or five times in the next one year. There is a lot of demand on infrastructure and network services for it to be able to fulfil the needs of customers.”

Prasad says with data usage now a key component of mobile phone usage, Vodafone Fiji is investing $207 million into upgrading to 5G services.
