The Consumer Council is urging customers to shop wisely this festive season.

The council says consumers need to ensure they get the best deals for their money because many traders are found to be engaging in unethical practises.

The consumer watchdog adds customers need to carefully check the promotions and advertisements and ensure the information is correct and not misleading.

This call comes as the Council inspected 45 retail outlets in Suva, Nasinu, Nausori, Korovou, Lami and Navua.

This was done to ensure that traders do not violate consumer protection laws.
Consumers are reminded remain vigilant when shopping this Christmas and report any unfair trade practices.
