January 9, 2019 12:19 pm

The Real Estate Board will be looking at making amendments to the existing Real Estate Agent Act 2006.

Chief Executive, Virisila Tuimanu says the Act is more than a decade old.

Tuimanu says they will now look into some needs of the industry and try to address it by making some adjustments to the legislation.

She says they do not know how extensive the changes will be because they will need to go through a consultation first.

“We have sort of conducted immediate plans to consult the people especially the Real Estate Industry, our stakeholder and the public at a later stage. We are looking at completing the whole task within nine months and we are very positive that with the support of the industry and other important stakeholder, this will be a success.”

REALB plans to commence with the consultation next month, however they are still awaiting for the Board’s endorsement.
