Forty women have been chosen to represent the Bua province in the 2020 National Women’s Expo in Suva.

The women were chosen following an impressive display of their craft during the Adi Bua Festival last week.

Fiji Arts Council Senior Development Officer, Niqa Tuvuki says she was impressed with the handicraft on display.

She adds the standard and quality of handicraft made by the women of the Province continues to improve.

“I have already seen the development of most of the handicraft in Bua. Mostly I have seen the development of Kuta itself. Instead of just focusing on mats, they have went on to weave baskets from it and it’s really up to that standard. I can say that I am really pleased with the quality of the handicraft that keep developing every year.”

The 40 women will join 75 others from the Macuata and Cakaudrove Provinces to represent the Northern Division at the 2020 Expo.
