15 women pilots in the Fiji Airways: Sayed-Khaiyum

The National Airline Fiji Airways has 15 pilots who are women.

This was highlighted by the Civil Aviation Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while responding to a question posed in parliament on the participation of women in the industry.

Sayed-Khaiyum says they have also embarked on a Leadership Development Programme in 2018 to help in the participation of women in leadership roles of the industry.

“This is a two-year programme and there are about 26 emplyees from the cross section of the company which 14 actually are women. Fiji Airways has several women who take up strategic and technical roles.”

Sayed-Khaiyum says they also have four women captains and some are first and second officers.

He adds a women are also responsible for the oversight of the entire fleet of the Fiji Link, eight women hold technical positions in the company whereas seven hold managers positions.
